INTRODUCTION
The Forestry Commission is a public body responsible for the regulation
of utilisation of forest and wildlife resources, the conservation and
management of those resources, and the coordination of policies related
to them.
The new Commission embodies the various public bodies
and agencies that were previously implementing the functions of protection,
management and regulation of forests and wildlife resources in an isolated
and disintegrated fashion. These agencies currently form the three Divisions
of the Commission, namely:
- The Forest Service Division,
- The Wildlife Division, and
- The Timber Industry Development Division.
The Office of the Chief Executive is complemented by the Headquarters
Staff. Management Support to the Forestry Commission is being provided
by the Resource Management Support Centre.
