APPOINTMENT OF CHIEF EXECUTIVE OF THE FORESTRY COMMISSION
His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Ghana has in accordance with Act 571, on the advice of the Board of Commissioners, given in consultation with the Public Services Commission confirmed the appointment of Mr. Samuel Afari Dartey as the substantive Chief Executive Officer of the Forestry Commission of Ghana with retrospective effect from October 7, 2009. He took over from Nana Kofi Adu Nsiah who acted briefly after Mr. Alhassan Attah left on September 25, 2009.
Mr. Samuel Afari Dartey who holds an MSc in Tropical Forestry (1999 - 2002) from the Dresden University of Technology, Germany, once held a mangement position at Samartex Ltd., a timber firm and was a Board member of the immediate past Board of Commissioners of the Forestry Commission. Until his appointment as the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Forestry Commission, in October 2009, he was also a member of the Public and International Relations Sub-Committee of the Board in 2008.
